Ibex hunt suggestions?
Does anyone know of an Ibex hunt that can be had for about $5K? I have looked at the shikarsafaris website but was hoping to find a hunt that was less expensive. It looks like these guys put on a great hunt but I'm sure I could be happy with a lot less. Call me cheap but I'm sure other opportunities exist at a lower cost.

It appears Turkey is my best choice but am willing to travel elsewhere. I am an American so not all areas are available to me. And being like most Americans my language skills are limited to English.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Rick

What kind of Ibex are you after ? They have ibex in Spain but I guess that you want big horns

Is Kazakhstan out of the question ?

This company can do a Ibex hunt for under $5000 if trophy measures under 50 inches.
If bigger then you bleed.

This company is in Turkey they charge a bit more.

Check into Bob Kern's company, The Hunting Consortium. He lists Ibex hunts in Mongolia for less than $5K. Some of these can also be combined with other game as well.

Boise,

I'm having trouble getting a P.M. to send correctly. If you are interested in joining our group for Ibex please e-mail me at svpaints@advertisnet.com. I can e-mail more info and pictures with a phone # if you get serious about the hunt.

Davaa, I am able to find and read Ibex hunt offers on the internet but was wondering if you are aware of other hunting opportunities that are either not posted on the internet or only posted in your local language. Also I would be interested in learning your suggestions for where and with whom you would think best to hunt with. Rick

I am not aware of any other serious trophy hunting in Mongolia except argali and ibex hunting. The argali sheep and ibex hunting pretty much wrap up the trophy hunting here and as I know the Maral Stag is smaller than the other species of elk found in other countries and does not make a desired trophy. Other animals like wild boar, wolf, gazelles, roe deer are usually thrown in or cheap. I visited the pages on the internet advertising ibex and argali hunting in Mongolia they seem to have pretty correct and good information. During last few years extensive poaching and tough winters seriously diminished population of these species but I hear we still have plenty of argali and ibex. In recent years many small private tourist companies have started receiving and serving foreign hunters however their main business is serving ordinary tourists. So I think they lack proper experience for serving hunters. Usually they get only couple of permits for ibex and maybe one argali permit a year. So they usually dont have dedicated camps, own hunting areas and good guides. In my opinion you guys should look for full time hunting companies like Juulchin, Mongol Safari /2 I know/. They know the business and how to treat you.

If you want gazelle and ibex as well you'll probably be going after Gobi or Hangay argali. They are fantastic looking animals. You must have them full body mounted though. Many of my local SCI club members regard them as the most fun hunt. The whole trip is an experience. I can't wait to go myself. Have fun. Sure wish I was going after argali.
