Enjoyed a nice vacation with a 3 day hunt in rural France, South of Argen in the area around Manciet (Sauboires)
Met up with Erwan and lodged in a Bed & Breakfeast type lodge, which included all meals in a remote and rustic area complete with swimming pool, which the wife enjoyed greatly. I booked this hunt last year after reading and looking for an area to hunt in combination with a short vacation, and you know, taking the wife has both advantages and disadvantages. Knowing it would be summer, the only realistic animal to hunt is the Roe Deer. They rut end of July and I knew they’d be on the move with best chance to connect with them. I worked out the mechanics with Arjun Reddy, stateside, and then with Renaud. Both Erwan and Renaud speak English well, and you know, when hunting, you don’t need a whole lot of communication. We did mostly slow walking through the countryside, which included vinyards, beautiful area and rolling hills with ravines, woodlots, and fields.
We saw a lot of deer every time we were out, Does, Fawns, Young Bucks, Old Bucks, you name it – at least a dozen if not more each time. The weather was warm, I went with light pants, light shirt, and just a binocular around my neck and the rifle. I was able to get on a good buck the third time out, late in the evening.
And another good buck the following evening.
Some decent Crayfish in the area too, which was interesting to find out.
Had a great time, and really enjoyed the French culture, and you know, the wine, the cheese, the fish, the Sangria, great trip, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

bwanamrmCool trip... especially to take the wife on! Brownie points and hunting, a smooth combination!
second buck looks a very nice one.
Will you have it measured?
Waidmannsdank, thanks.
sws -- will only measure it myself, compare with other good bucks I've shot, nothing official.
Just like to enjoy the hunt and shoot good bucks, and the memory and experiences of the hunt are just as important to me

Mostly I just take advantage of what is offered, as long as it is a good buck and the shot is there.

NevadanDom,
Waidmannsheil!!
Two very nice looking Reh. From the photos, I can tell you did not enjoy yourself one bit.

Dinner looked amazing and I noticed just a bit of wine on the table.
Miss you and the other guys from Heidelberg.
Don
The second one looks a cracker. I only asked about the measuring as it looked very heavy. Ive never measured any of my roe bucks either!
Looks a lovely place to stalk. Very tempted for another year

GerryDom,
Waidmannsheil!
The story you told of your hunt in France was good enough and the hunt Happy Snaps add to it!
