No shame axis

Cazador humildeNo shame axis
Spotted this boy while the wife and I were finishing our first cup of coffee at our home place just south of Fredericksburg, Texas. I put on some old deck shoes I had (they're actually quite quiet), got the ugly "canoe paddle" .280 out of the pickup and made a short stalk. He was tearing the hell out of the brush. A hanging limb was obstructing his shoulder a bit, so I got down and did a sneaky-sneaky crawl until his shoulder was clear. I shot from prone and he was down 40 yards behind the shot site.

Nah, just over 31" I think. Still, the biggest axis I've killed.

bwanamrmHeckuva axis buck Kent!
And Ed that axis buck is just... well extreme is the best word I can come up with. Wow!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Big Wonderful WyomingTexas hill country is just magical. Once I am done with my masters degree I am going to be looking for a new job out there.
The biggest problem is that I can't seem to find an safety and occupational health specialist of facilities management position in that area with any career potential.
Nothing like hot and cold running exotics.

fla3006Extremely nice! I killed a spike axis on property we own adjoining the Fredericksburg city limit and have seen others on the game cam, but nothing like yours. Saw two similar to yours on Lower Crabapple Road.
