Nice Mexico buck... superb beams and mass! If he would have had another 1" on each tine he would have been 60's easy... well done.

Thank you Gentlemen, I appreciate your kindness & interest.

Bwana: Very true, however the deer down in our area of Mexico have suffered a severe drought in the last 2-3 years. The rancher said if the conditions were opposite, wet & green, the bucks would've been much larger. I'm praying for rain this year, as we are re-starting a protein program, hoping for more Boone & Crockett deer. We did see 2 in the 180+ range that outsmarted us & a 165" that I rattled in that I actually forgot to shoot, sick from excitement with my first rattle in experience.

FYI: left main beam...25 7/8
right main beam...26 4/8
H1 circumference...4 5/8

CamoMan,
Nice Buck.
You will be surprised what 15-20 inches of rain at the right times will do to that country and the deer. I hunted down there for many years and a little rain at the right times will do wonders for all the wildlife. I took a deer similar to the one in the first pictures. 27 1/2 and 27 3/4 main beams fairly heavy but he lacked for long tines. When he turned his head and I could see that his main beams passed his nose.....

One year I saw a natural nine that his main beam crossed out over his nose. Just saw him twice, the third time would have been the charm.

Even in the draught years in the 90's, we would have at least one or two bucks that looked like they had been in a feedlot. Go figure......

There is nothing else in the world quite like being down there when the bucks are coming to horns, good stuff.

Thanks for posting, Swifter220.

It's reassuring to hear your input in regards to the effect on antler growth on trophy deer during a raining season, we are depending on rain to improve results. I can only imagine what a planned 15-20 tons of protein with or without the rains will do...

I'd love to see any pictures of Mexico bucks if you have them available to share.

Angadi also mentioned that the average number of US hunters were down this year to 300 from 3000 a few years ago. Marines were everywhere, we had no problems, everything went smooth for everyone in our camp.

Thanks!

lol Hogs were everywhere, after shooting 6,
I had enough. These are wild to mild camp hogs, not exactly feral nor tame. We had alot of fun messing around with them including setting up a predator caller using a piglet in distress sounds that drove them nuts.

It's not as bad as some think it is, just have to be vigilant on following the rules & no mistakes.

Thanks for the compliment.

Camo - Nice deer and looks like a great trip.

Curious about one "non-related" thing? Why is Mexico called "Old Mexico" by a lot of folks? Just wondering?

Thanks.

Old Mexico - New Mexico? "Mexico" alone does it for me, but often get asked Old or New.

Same here. I tell people in going to Mexico to hunt and they always ask "where in New Mexico".
