Bill CMike, you probably already saw this, but here is a clip from the
SEPTEMBER issue of The Hunting Report: Where is George Sevich of Eurasian
Expeditions, and why is he
not getting back to a growing number
of clients who have sent him deposits
or full payments for hunts?
Others, who hunted with him in the
past, are trying to find out about
their trophies. Here at The Hunting
Report, we have already heard about
a dozen or more unhappy clients,
and there are said to be others.
Maybe dozens of others.
Rumor has it Sevich is experiencing
personal problems. And that
is said to have led to financial problems,
which were compounded by
the US Fish & Wildlife Service decision
to not allow trophies into the
country this year from Kyrgyzstan, a
country where Sevich has been very
active in recent years.
The latest communication we
know anyone has had with Sevich is
an e-mail dated July 31, addressed
to one of his clients, Mike Gill. In
that e-mail, Sevich assures Gill that
he is back on track and will be in
touch with him regarding a hunt for
Tian Shan maral stag. “Thanks for
bearing with me,†the e-mail ends.
Gill says he has not heard from
Sevich since then, and he has given
up hope of going on his hunt.
Bryan Martin of Canadian
Mountain Outfitters, who is a marketing
partner with Sevich, was
equally disappointed at press time.
“George has really let everyone
down, including me,†Martin said.
Here’s a quick rundown of the
other affected hunters that we have
been able to reach:
• Ed Kohler says he was supposed to
hunt the Kamchatka Peninsula for
sheep this summer.
• John Korn says he was scheduled
to hunt tur this July. Korn also says
Sevich has not returned his calls
about a Russian brown bear trophy,
taken two years ago, or a Marco
Polo trophy he took in Kyrgyzstan
last year.
• Subscriber Dial Dunkin hunted
Marco Polo in Kyrgyzstan with
Sevich last year and has not received
his trophy. Dunkin said he
was arranging to pay the operator
$16,000 to get his sheep.
• Michael Letourneau says he paid
$20,000 for a Marco Polo hunt
Sevich donated to the Eastern
FNAWS.
• Floyd Ladner tells us he put
$4,000 down on a Kamchatka brown
bear hunt at the SCI convention.
• Jason Bruce says he gave Sevich
$10,000 for a Russian sheep hunt,
along with two friends who put
down $7,000 each.
• A group of three hunters including
subscriber Philip Soucy tell us they
cancelled their hunts for Kamchatka
brown bear and have a total of
$13,500 tied up with Sevich.
Here at The Hunting Report, we
have had no more luck than anyone
else in reaching Sevich at the numbers
we have for him. Consequently,
there is little we can do to help with
this problem other than offer a networking
service for affected subscribers
who may want to pursue
collective action. To that end, we
have created a master list of individuals
who have contacted us
about Sevich. We’ll happily share
that with anyone who contacts us
and describes the nature of the complaint
he has with Sevich. Send your
e-mail to:
bvcrown@bellsouth.net.
Or call us at: 800-272-5656. It goes
without saying that we also welcome
calls or e-mails from anyone
who has reached Sevich or knows
how to reach him. – Barbara Crown.
