getaloadofWhat bullets do you use ?
There are several bullets on the market. What bullets are the most accurate, most deadly, best penetration, fastest, coated, uncoated, Ringed, flat shooting, varmits, medium game, or big game?

OldFartFor big game, I will only use the premium hunting bullets. I prefer the failsafes, but will use partitions, grandslams, or the X if they give me better accuracy.

getaloadofI'm surprised that there isn't much input on this subject since the bullet is what does the real damage. Doesn't anyone realize how important the pill is. It's like taking a placebo vs taking Viagra. One doesn't do anything and the other one gives you a... I would urge the web master to put this issue in the right forum.

Pa.FrankI have used Noslers, Hornady, Speer, and a few premiums before they went mainstream but I keep coming back to Sierra. I seem to get the best accuracy with them and as long as I do my part, they work just dandy.

Grizzly AdamsHello;
I've used the mainstream bullets {handloaded] for the last 30+ years and always had good results, never felt the need for those overpriced "premiums". The moose I shot a couple of months ago was a victim of a 162 GR. 7mm Hornady bullet. Retained bullet weight after almost bi-secting the chest cavity was 105 Gr.

badgerrrFor close to medium range big game, I usually use a Barnes X. My .308 Savage is usually the gun doing the killing with a 150gr Barnes.
But for longer range or just to carry as back-ups for the spendy X bullets, I like Speer Hot cores.

HandloaderI shoot mostly Nosler Ballistic Tips and Partitions. I shoot some Sierra Match in my 308 win.

browningguyHornady SST's and Interloks in most of my rifles (270, 275 Rigby, 308, '06, 300 WinMag), I'm getting ready to try 250 gr. Gamekings and Barnes X in my 338 to see how they shoot.

konst#1hey,
in my .375H&H i use 260grs Nosler Pt for roes, reds, fallows and boars
in 5,6 +6,5*57 (R) i use the RWS KS for roes and boar
in 9,3 mm RWS TMRK in 18,5 g for everything.
beneath Nosler and RWS the "new" Blaser CDP is a new good bullet. Something like a PT that should build 4 /fahnen) like the X Bullet.
cheers

<razorback>I use trophy bonded's in my 260, only because north fork doesn't offer that caliber, everything else is shot with scirroco or north fork depending on my advisary

getaloadofThanks for all of the input. It seems that everyone uses a different bullet. My only experiance has been with the Partitions, Barnes X's and GameKings. The Gamekings worked pretty good on deer. At least they died quick. But in testing in saturated newspaper they failed. The largest piece wasn't 10grs and it was just the copper jacket. On the other hand the X's have been excellent in testing, retaining 98 to 100 percent I just haven't got them red yet. The partitions in testing retained as much as 65% and I wasnt as impressed compared to the X's . With this info I thought that X's would be the best choice but I have limited experiance where it counts, in the animal. Does any one have experiances good or bad as to bullet performance in the animal. Thanks for your experiances

<bigbelly>The highest quality bullet that is accurate enough for the game being hunted.sounds like brand "X" to me.although I love the Noslers & Sierra`s for the lighter stuff.
