MARK H. YOUNGCollectors Special Sitatunga Mini Safari for '13 w/ Muchiniga Adventures
The Du Plooys have sitatunga available on their Tondwa concession in the north of Zambia. Tondwa was not affected by the recent closure because it was not up for tender in '12 and the sitatunga hunting is very good there. Historically the success is 100% on bulls of 26"-27" with larger definitely possible.
The hunt is basically conducted from stands out in the swamp. Your targeting feeding bulls that move mostly just at daylight in the morning and last light in the evening. Shooting can be long by Africa standards and a rifle that will reach out is a necessity.
Tondwa itself is pretty interesting as you'd be hunting in an extinct volcano crater much along the lines of Ngorongoro.
Camp is the normal thatch affair found in most of Zambia. Rustic but comfy with en suite bath.
Available dates: 1-14 July, Sept 1-30, 14 Oct onward. Later dates are ideal.

bwanamrmGotta do this deal... unfortunately I am full for '13. I believe they have pretty good sable and roan in this area too.
The Duplooy's are top shelf operators.

butchlocbeen there did that - it is a great place. hot latter on in the year, but saw several sitatunga. mine was a 26" the big plus is that there are several other species available. tondwa is a really unique place, quite unlike most of the others we have been in.

Hunting For AdventureThat's a good offer for sure.
Been there, done that, got the sitatunga. Top shelf outfit and a really interesting place. But it sure didn't look like a volcanic crater to this geologist, though what you see on Google Earth is suggestive. More like a rift valley with some volcanic rocks on the surrounding hill tops.

butchlocmark will have to answer you but i saw lots of roan in tondwa. you can get there by car - takes quite a ride and the last bunch is kinda like driving down the grand canyon. or you can charter but the air field is quite aways from camp and you still have to take the miserable part of the drive, nice part of driving all the way is stopping to shoot a black lewche on the way

Eddy,
Note the Roan are the same price across Zambia and you were quoted a much better deal last year?
Not kicking tyres are you? Because I have terrific tyre kicking deal in the Kafue for a few bucks a day that you might be interested in?
Just a bunch of tyres, no PH or Dip & Pack.
PM me.
