noreasterIs the non trophy buffalo exportable? Who makes the call on the size, and what happens if the buffaol is 37 inches? Can the hunter be selective or must he shoot what he is told too? Are these management animals and what is the average age? Anotherb ad on this site says 36 inches not 35 inches as the maximum size, who is right? Thank you.

longwingHi noreaster, thanks for the inquiry.
My mistake, the non-trophy buff is under 36", not 35 as I said. In terms of spread, under 36" is the "target" but a bull with seriously broomed off tips or one broken horn, or "skull cap" falls into the non trophy category as well. Sure, there's some leeway - I call it and it turns out to be 36, no problem, but if it is over that, well, it will cost me!
Yes it is exportable.
They are not management animals, but a resource that has become quite numerous so the Conservancy management figured they would offer them to hunters at a favorable price.
Average age? These are mostly (with the exception of broke horn, etc,) old animals, probably lone daga boys, making for a pretty challenging hunt. So age would be +12 years?
These old boys have beaten off lions, other bulls, been through the mill and are clever, anti-social old fellows.
Hope this answers all your questions.
