Renaud my partner has just informed me that he is going to be in Kazakhstan guiding his European clients for Maral stag in the second half of September. This is the peak rut period when the Maral are bugling. You will not see a ton of animals like you do here in some of the better areas here in the States, but the big boys are there and in 8-10 days of hunting you will get a shot at a good one. Of course there is no guarantee, it's wild hunting. Over there the scoring system is by weight [unlike most operators Renaud does not believe in charging for extra horn length and its the good fortune of the hunter], and I have no clue what the SCI points would be. The average trophy size is around 12 kilos (26 lbs) and several bigger bulls are taken each year. Below are photographs of trophies along with weights so you can see what they look like! If someone can gestimate the SCI lengths on a couple of those bulls, I would appreciate that.
