CaracalShort notice Leopard in the Erongo Mountains for a great price ($16.5k)
Hello,
my partner in Namibia has a leopard permit available for this year.
It's a former cattle farm run as a hunting property for +15years. Accommodation is simple, but comfortable. The area is roughly 30k acres and not high fenced (=free range). They have a good leopard population, but as always in Namibia, the cats are smart. They have one cat on quota and an overall success rate of 80-90%. They have been 100% in the past 6 years until this year unfortunately.
This year the leopard hunt was not successful, mainly because the hunter cut his hunt short and wasn't there when the leopard was feeding. He did have one opportunity at the first day of the hunt though, which he didn't manage to utilize.
The perfect time would be July this year. We could maybe also manage to do this hunt in August or September.
Plan to arrive on a full moon.
There were two different leopard on bait and I can show you trail cam pictures of the two.
You will have the opportunity to add a variety of species while you are there. Especially DikDik, Klippspringer and Mountain Zebra are good species to add and very affordable on this farm.
Zebra are used for bait, so plan to take 1-3 during the hunt (but you can take the skin).
The daily rate includes the first bait animal which will be ready by the time you arrive.

Baker458I like this offer a lot. Low day rate, more money on the trophy fee gives the outfitter more 'skin in the game.'
$700 for Mountain Zebra is very fair.
To me, the ideal mix would be to bring a kid or friend on their first safari (someone who hasn't taken the common Namibian PG) and let them hunt in between checking baits, etc.
