mulie_mikeMLD Level lll 2015 Texas Whitetail
What is MLD Level III- It is a special program set up through the state and strict cooperation from the landowner that allows you to start Rifle hunting during the month of October while normally it is Archery season for everyone else and you can also hunt until the end of January when season typically ends first weekend in January. This is only achieved by strict game management and improvement of land to benefit wildlife. While hunting MLD you do not use your state issued tags but rather MLD tags which allows you to harvest extra deer if you so choose.
Now for the Hunt Info:
Approximately 4,000 acre ranch just outside of Sonora Texas where part of the ranch is high fenced on 3 sides and the other open so it can still be considered free range while 1 pasture (800 acres)is completely high fenced. There are no stocked deer on the ranch anywhere, it is all native genetics. There are Axis on both areas of the ranch and plenty of Turkeys too. There is a house with 2 private rooms with queen beds in each room and 1 room with 3 bunks and 2 bathrooms. On site cold storage and nearby taxidermy and meat processing available. Rifle set up and archery in place throughout the ranch.
We will be offering a total of 13 Trophy Hunts this season on this Ranch (October through end of January 2016)
3 Day Hunt with Lodging $2500- 1 Mature Buck and 1 Doe with Guide On Site to escort hunters to stand, help retrieve game, and prep your harvest for transport.
We will waive all Trophy Fees for this first year. A mature buck on this ranch will average mid 130's into the 150s with the largest buck being taken was 167".
Extra Doe Tags (13 Additional Available) will be $200 per one and must be purchased prior to hunt.
There will be 2 to 4 hunters in camp at a time for this special, single hunters are more than welcome to book.
*You are still responsible for your Texas hunting license*
I will also have 30 Spring Turkey Tags available for the 2016 Spring Season for this property and will consider a season lease to the right group or on a per bird/guided or unguided basis.
A Few Trophy axis will be available here as well this Summer and Fall with a couple does. Anyone interested please email or call me for more information.

GatogordoJust for general information purposes, a MLD III permit generally runs to about the end of February. For instance, this year the MLD III season "Allows harvest of antlerless and any buck deer with any lawful means from September
27, 2014 through February 28, 2015."
I had one for years on my place and dropped it a couple of years back....got tired of the useless paperwork, but it certainly has great benefits, both in more accurate management of deer herd and the longer seasons. If I had known my younger daughter was going to turn into a deer hunter, I would not have dropped it. Hindsight....

This is a very reasonable price for the hunt offered.
