Next May (trying to beat the Cup rush), I am heading to southern Africa and am taking a few buds on their 1st safaris.. I am kind of just tagging along and will end up taking a few PG that I've yet to hunt.. AFTER the Africa leg is over, I am planning on getting onto the plane in Joburg and then catching a flight to Sydney and then onto Darwin to hunt buff up in northern Aus.. From there, back down to Syd, then on home Stateside from there as usual..

Can a travel agent work out a travel itineray such as this? Will having firearms for a multi country/continent flight schedule such as this cause any more hassle than normal? The SAPS stuff in SA is a breeze to do and not a problem, and my guy in Aus is taking care of all the firearms permits to get into Aus.. Im more worried about the multi airline carriers, etc..

What do you gents think the costs of a multi flight trip like this will run in terms of cost?
I'm just trying to prepare myself for the sticker shock.

I'm almost curious to see if it'd actually be cheaper to do the buff hunt in May and then wait till Sept and head to Africa.. Split them up into 2 completely separate hunts..
Any advise?

Try booking an around the world fare. You can go around either direction, never backwards and must complete is either 30 or 60 days. You can get a first class ticket pretty cheaply if you shop around, good luck and post pictures! please!

Yes around the world is a good and inexpensive option. Qantas does around-the-world but you will find yourself on British Airways and American Airlines for certain legs and may have to fly through London which can be not much fun with guns I understand. Qantas has daily services from J'berg to Perth and Sydney in Australia, with connections to Darwin.

If you are looking at early May for coming to Australia it might be a little early for really good and reliable buff hunting but right at the end of May you ***should*** be OK. Problem being the 'wet season' - if it runs a little late it can slow you down a REAL LOT.
