ZIMBABWES FIRST ROAN HUNT- CMS
Hi Folks,
After two years of lobbying, The Department of National Parks and Wildlife have granted Charlton McCallum Safaris a special permit to hunt one roan (male) in Dande East in 2016. It is common knowledge that the 2016 rainy season has been well below average so the proceeds from the hunt are to be used to help offset costs of water projects in the concession. We are drilling boreholes for the communities in villages as well as in the core “concession” for game. Obviously it is a win win for all involved, as the communities will get water for themselves and for their game (which we hunt and share proceeds back with communities).

This is the FIRST ROAN permit to be issued in Zimbabwe for as long as we can remember. Dande East has a good roan population, which has obviously never ever been hunted so there is an excellent chance of getting something a little special.

We were thinking of the following:

14 days x $1,000/day = $14,000
1 x Buffalo bull or tuskless elephant $4500
1 x Roan $7,000
Plainsgame as per www.cmsafaris.com
2% of daily rates $280
4% of trophy fees $480 +/-
1% of total to DAPU +/- $250
Dip and pack $600
VAT $22.5 x 14 = $315
Special permit $1,500
Total $28,925.0

Extras
Round trip drive $500 or
Air charter $2100

We do have extra quota available on request including sable, crocodiles and buff so can customize a hunt as per request.

All the best

really wanted to pull the trigger on one.

Good luck guys, that sounds like a great combo hunt in a great area!!, lots of tuskless and big dagga boys roaming this concession.

Already checked out the piggy bank, all I got was the hollow resounding sound of emptiness. This is truly a wonderful opportunity!

Any chance another hunt like this will be available in 2017?

Buzz,

Considering that the roan is kind of a specialty animal and even more so in Zim this is a very fair offer. Somebody should buy this quickly.

Great news to hear of a new specie being offered in Zim.

Roan is one of my favourite quarries.

Congratulations! This speaks volumes to the effectiveness of the DAPU and the CMS reputation.

Already I was beginning to fall into the African way of thinking: That if
you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on
the animal's terrain, if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the
day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers—then you have not merely
killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed
because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always
recapture the day - Robert Ruark
