MARK H. YOUNGExcellent moose hunt for '10 Discounted Also Discounted Brown bear
I have two opening for a great moose hunt with ideal dates for Sept '10.
Fred Sorenson who is our preferred moose guide/outfitter in Alaska has Sept 11-19, '10 open for 2 hunters. This is the best date of the season as the rut will be full on making the moose much more visible.
Fred only takes 6-8 hunters per years and if two guys bookedthe 11-19 Sept date they will have the whole area and camp to themselves.
The hunt is a spot and stalk affair but is not a physically difficult hunt. A Polaris Ranger and a track vehicle are used for the major moving about and meat retrieval. This is the perfect hunt for the hunter with some mobility considerations. Let's face it. Not everyone wants to bust their butt packing moose meat.
Generally everyone will have an opportunity at a big bull averaging about 58"-60".
Fred makes the hunt seamless from arrival in Fairbanks to departure. He will handle transport to your bush flight from Salcha to camp, the flight into camp, the hunting, return flight and take care of shipping the meat and trophy.
Camp is a traditional wall tent affair with comfy cots and wood stove. You will eat well and probably gain weight.
Below is a bull killed by one of my clients.

John Peterson is our preferred brown bear operator in Alaska. John operates on his exclusive guide area in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge is home to a huge population of brown bears and it would be common to see 10-20 bears in a day. This is the area where Ilived ofr 22 years and I can personal vouch for the great number of bears.
John is allowed 6 bears in the Refuge per year and normally 5 people will shoot a bear with an average size of 9' squared.
This is a great hunt with an operator I've known for years. If there is anyway for you to have a great hunt John will provide it.
This hunt 1x1 10 days (8 actual hunting days) for $12,500 normally $14,500
Extras:
Bush flight from Dillingham to camp $1,000 RT
Hunting license $85
Bear tag $500
Hotels as necessary
Trophy shipping
Airfare to Dillingham, AK
The below are a couple of recent fall bears taken with John.
