We were walking in the Forrest along the river in the Selous, looking for a bull to shoot.
Suddenly, we come across an old bull standing less than 10 yards away. He was facing to our right, and all we could see was parts of him because of the Forrest.
Someone whispered "you better kill him. If he sees us he will come for us"
I moved slowly to the right, and as soon as I could see a gap to shoot through, I let him have it.
It was so easy, no drama at all.
I have no idea why people make so much fuss about hunting hippos on dry land

Its not always like that. Just ask Bill C.

I know.
We have been chased by hippos both on land and in water.
It is part of the fun of hunting.
Once we ran away from one, and I tripped on a root, fell down, and our video cameraman landed on top of me!
Luckily the hippo took a different route!

BiebsSaeed, you'd love a Hippo hunt with Buzz. He gets REAL close, then asks the Hippo if it's his day to die. Then he gets the Hippo to charge, shoots it, then congratulates the hunter. Afterwards, he unloads his 600 NE double and combs profuse chest hair :-)

What a shame!
I never realized Buzz was such a wimp, shooting a hippo with a 600 NE!?
Real hunters use a minimum caliber!

BiebsYes, when you hunt in a Mankini, you need all the help you can get :-

You know?
He might have something there, being an expert on hippos, he might have made the same discovery as we did, with Walter's help.
We found a large pod of hippos in Rufiji River, and we wanted to take photos and videos of them.
They were quite disappointing, as all they did was just stare at us.
Walter decided to liven thing up.
He turned around, and dropped his trousers, showing them his rear end, telling them what he thought of their behavior.
You won't believe it!
All hell broke loose!
They went berserk!
Screaming and running all over the place.
We got some fantastic photage!

BiebsI imagine women have the same reaction when Walter drops his trousers, except perhaps uncontrolled fits of laughter? :-).

SaeedWalter actually shot himself in the leg, above the knee with a shotgun!
His leg looks like some horrible animal mangled it.
He keeps telling people that he was bitten by a shark, which also took most of his reproductive organ!
One year in Matetsi, there were complaints that there were no women around.
After lunch, Walter went to his hut and made himself a bikini!!?

He then stood on the steps of his hut, only in his bikini. Waiting for customers!
We all decided to give up women, if they looked anything like him!

I don't know aboput that.
Someone who wears a mankini while chasing dangerous game might just have surpassed Walter in his shenanigans!
Just imagine, how the hell can one double dry a hippo??
How the hell can one fish on dry land??
Don't take my word for it, just read the title to this thread!

FjoldWhere do you get a big enough hand net to dry land a hippo while fishing?
