bwanamrmGood stuff here gents! I believe the "buy of the year" is the 10 day bull ellie hunt... man I wish I had the time!
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

MikeBurkeCome on Russell, you can find the time, after all when you and Martin get together 45 pound elephant and 45" buffalo is just a weekend hunt......
I was not going this year, but it looks like I will change my mind, trying to figure out a plan to to stay six or eight weeks.
I'm glad that I can't go hunting this year.

I hate you. I just hate you.

Mike
On the 7 day Buff hunt, is there any opportunity for Kudu and Bushbuck? That is a good price, as other price I have seen is $1,250 for 10 day minimum..
Have wanted a Buff forever, but never got a Kudu or Bushbuck either. What part of Zim is the SAVE in?
Shoot, meant Omay area, in? Have a country map from 1972, when I hunted there, but not sure it's shown on that map..
1972!! Holy crap that was 40 years ago.
Yep, celebrated my B.D. there on that trip. Got elephant, 2 Sable, wildebeeste, and Eland, duiker, impala and Zebra. Saw "a" buff going back into Wankie park, so no shot. Couldn't seem to be able to spot the Kudu. That trip was my college graduation present to ME, from ME. Quit my job to go, hunted SWA too, and never looked back.

bwanamrmOmay North has excellent bushbuck numbers and good kudu in the hills. Omay South had good kudu numbers too and fair bushbuck along the watercourses.
Succumbing to the Safari siren's call, are we Burke?

Got a nice Gemsbok in SWA, before coming over to Rhodesia. Wife got Gemsbok and Kudu in SWA, and 2 Sable and a Zebra in Rhodesia/Zim..

I saw numerous brushbuck does in the Omay north when I was there last year and some French hunters in camp were hunting Waterbuck and turned down a couple while I was there.

croc shouldn't be a problem. 2 years ago when i was there the camp manager found a dead hippo floating in the lake while he was fishing. he drug it back to the beach in front of camp late in the afternoon of my arrival. by dark some monster croc were moving in to feed. we could here them ripping into the carcass while we ate. by the next morning the entire hippo( and it was a large bull apparently killed during a fight with another bull) was gone- no bones, no skin, nothing. when you consider the weight of such an animal you know there were some serious croc feeding on it.
