I am very excited to announce a new business relationship with a young Texan named Jim Bean/High West Outfitters that has some super hunting for aoudad. In the 2014/2015 season his operation had a 100% success rate on rams averaging 30"+. Everybody, regardless of age or physical condition, got a great ram. I hunted mule deer with Jim's family when they were first getting the business off the ground and I saw at that time that they would do well because of their attention to detail. Their deer hunts are sold out far in advance but the aoudad hunts are pretty open for '16.

The hunt itself is all spot and stalk with a lot of glassing. Shots can come at long range, so it is very important to know where your rifle shoots and a long range rig could be very handy on this hunt.

Hunts are conducted August-October or January-March. The fall hunt will be during the rut period and rams will be more visible at that time. January through March will not provide the amount of activity the rut period will, but the actual success will be the same regardless of when you hunt.
Hunts are conducted on three private ranches in the Van Horn-Alpine area of West Texas. These ranches cover 10,000-33,000 acres of excellent aoudad habitat. The country is rough, but some ranches have better road systems so they can provide a less physical hunt. These ranches all have very comfortable accommodations with nice beds, hot showers and good food.
