Icelandic Reindeer 2025 - Hunt report and forecast 2026
Folks,

An opportunity for participation in the annual Reindeer cull, administered by the
Icelandic Government.

A truly great hunt in unique landscapes, with the chance to extend your stay & enjoy a tour of Iceland.

First released in the 1700s, the deer numbers have consolidated in the Eastern Fjord
area of the island. An annual count establishes current numbers and on this basis the
cull figures are released by .gov scientists, ensuring the population does not exceed the
carrying capacity of the area.

We have just returned from another successful trip to Iceland – hunters having the
opportunity to take a Reindeer bull in a totally unique landscape, however, this season the weather kicked our collective ass, poor visibility ensuring that four of our seven hunters required a second day of hunting to connect with a bull.

This brings our results over the years, to 35 hunts conducted, with 28 of these hunters taking their beast during day one. Obviously, weather can influence this run, however it seems likely that you will have the opportunity to shoot your Bull on the first day.
You will need to be physically fit and mobile as this is alpine hunting at its finest.
We use 4WD & ATVs until the tracks end, then climb above towering sea cliffs to the hanging
valleys where Reindeer fatten in the summer. We do have alternate areas where your fitness level is not as crucial to enjoying your hunt.

We are primarily hunting in the alpine areas to the south of the block. These offer high numbers of deer and limited numbers of hunters, mainly because of the difficulties in access. This rough terrain means that hunting 2-1 is not viable - the ground is just too extreme to attempt to extract two carcasses and three men on a single ATV.

We have also extended our river access to a further 35km of awesome salmon fishing
(several excellent Salmon taken during our visit) over water that also has great numbers of big Brown trout and Arctic Char.

Geese numbers will vary depending on food availability, however with over
18,000 acres permission, we should be able to find one or two!

Thanks guys - yes, indicative pricing is based in GBP, with an approximate USD conversion.

The hunt is part of an organised annual cull - however, your guides will permit shooting of trophy sized caribou.

Pricing for this hunt, when compared to a barren ground caribou, can never be described as high! Smiler

Cheers,

Ian
