Montana Private Ranch Cow Elk Hunt - A Hosted Hunts Exclusive
This ranch is a site to behold and the management practices in place are first rate. Success is 95%+ and shot opportunity has always been 100%. In fact our clients are usually tagged out with plenty of time to spare. The only time a hunter has not got their elk is if they either missed multiple times, or wounded. The same two guides handle every hunt and they work on the ranch full time and know it intimately.
The ranch is approximately 19,000 acres, located 30 minutes from Bozeman International Airport. It's easy to get to but also off the beaten path. The private land adjoins the US National forest, offering some of the finest big game hunting Montana has to offer. The outfitter on this hunt is Bull Basin Outfitters (https://www.hukandhunt.com/), contact is Rich Winters at 406-239-1686. Pictures of the lodging, ranch, etc. can be found on the website. During the winter months, as many as 1,000 elk can be found on the ranch. The lodge is centrally located on the ranch and elk are often seen from the lodge itself. Equipment is all top notch and transportation is provided by Polaris Rangers and 4x4 pick up which are all new or like new. Newly built in 2015, the accommodations are very nice, well appointed, and spacious. The main lodge has two bedrooms with two queen beds in each, two bathrooms, full service kitchen, and a dining room. Relax with all the amenities of home including a large flat screen tv, fireplace, and a wet bar. Excellent home cooked meals are also included. There are also two individual cabins available within walking distance from the lodge. Hunters can stay in the main cabin or individual cabins (outfitter choice). There is a hunter's room with lockers and individual stalls for each hunter for their hunting clothing, boots, and weapons. There is also a walk in cooler on site where the guides will quarter and hang your harvest. They have done all the little things that make a good destination a great one.
We currently have a group of 2 (father/son - 60 and 35 ish) that are booked on this hunt and there is room for another 2 hunters. The father/son went last year (both successful) and had such a great time they decided to go back.
This is a easy hunt physically. One will travel the ranch in Polaris Rangers or 4x4 pickups to find the elk. The guides will get you within 1/4" - 1/2" mile of the elk, and the rest of the hunt will be on foot.
To keep their strict management practices in place, only 8 cow elk will be taken off the ranch this year by our clients.
** Please note that If you draw blood that is your animal. They will do everything they can to recover it…...you will not have an option to harvest another animal

RAR60As you have described, it sounds like this
outfitter aims to please but that price for a cow/meat hunt is pretty salty. Just saying...

This is more expensive than some cow elk hunts. But it’s worth noting that those cheaper hunts don’t include meals and lodging.
If you figure in the cost of meals, hotel and rental car, those inexpensive hunts are going to cost nearly the same as this one.
