I have no dog in this fight.....BUT, it seems like bad form (and bad business) for an outfitter to NOT address a fairly direct question regarding a public conflict with a client. Responding in an aggressive or defensive manner (eg. "What, are you a lawyer?") rather than simply saying, "Here is the situation and here is how I am working to make everything right" is enough to make many MANY people of any nationality happily pay "American prices" for a hunt.
JMHO
All valid points. One, however, has to take cultural differences into consideration. Lots of folks in that part of the world will take constructive criticism rather well and make an attempt to solve the problem at hand. Alas when faced with straight forward question from a person w/o "dog in the race" they get defensive and that's where the conversation ends. I would bet that anyone who is interested in hunting with this outfitter can call him directly and get the explanation.
You may say that in order to sell to us successfully, folks would have to adapt to our open way of doing business and I agree. Alas, this will take some time and some may choose not to take this route altogether.

Todd WilliamsI've hunted Russia a little bit and understand that cultural differences can be quite extreme. I've seen hostile reactions to seemingly innocent and straight forward questions being taken as questioning integrity. I'm a bit interested in some of these hunts but can't make out heads or tails if this guy is for real. I would like to think that he is.
I've also had my trophies held up in a foreign country for more than 2 years while the "paperwork" was sorted out. These things do happen. In my case, it all worked out and I got my trophies. I wonder what the international hunting experience level of Scandinavian Hunter is? Could this be his first time around with paperwork from foreign officials.
Are there any AR members out there who have hunted with Igor that are willing to share their hunting report with all of us?

Magnum Hunter1I have a Dagestan Tur hunt booked with Igor next week. I leave the states on the third. I hunted with him for Siberian Ibex in Kyrgystan last October and he delivered on everything he promised. I was delayed two days by flights here in the US and was able to reach Igor on his cell anytime I called him. He took care of the pickup on his end and everything went fine. I was worried that I might end up in Bishkek alone but all went well. I got a great ibex and don't have a complaint. I hope the Tur hunt goes as well. There are three of us going on this hunt and I post a report when I get back.
Igor, I hope to see you next week in the Caucasus!
