Buffalo hunts in N.M.
No license required, considered livestock.
Folks I've been killing buffalo off this ranch for 10 years.
My friend the rancher has contracted a fatal
sickness and asked me to liquidate the herd
as he can no longer get out of the house.
3 day hunt includes lodging and meals.
Cost of processing is the hunters responsibility
Meat cow-2250.00
Meat Bull-3000.00 (Meat bulls are SOLD)
Trophy Bull- 6000.00

Processor will freeze solid.
Lon Paul hauled one back to Palm Springs in june and came thru ok.
Would think Nov.-Dec travel would be do-able

Just stick a freezer or two on a trailer. Fill with the frozen cut and wrapped bison. Plug it in at night at the motel. You can also take a small generator and plug in to that if needed. Their hides are in GREAT shape then.
This year the area has received great rains.
The range and animals are fat and shiny.

GarByAnd the land is gorgeous...the guide not so much. But he can cook, talk a good story, and overall ain't too bad to be around. Accommodations are very nice. The buff herd is very healthy and if you are looking for a nice buff, this would be a good place to go.

Horn tips goes straight up, 3-5 yrs/ meat bull.
Horn tips curling back into head - Trophy bull.
Luckily BOTH are made out of meat.
meat bull 500+ Lbs of finished meat
Trophy bull 650-700 Lbs of finished meat.
Head,hide and meat belong to hunter.

No idea around buffs.
How about shoot 'em load 'em and leave?
Is there help on hand to load 'em without having to hire them?
Am close enough to get home in good shape especially with this weather moving in.

I shot a meat bull on this ranch and the whole thing works fine plus the meat is excellent. The guide on the other hand is a cranky, skinny, ugly fuck but he will get the job done regardless of his short comings.

I haven't killed a bunch of cows off of this ranch. We kept them to grow the herd.
I would guess nearly 300# of finished
packaged buffalo meat.
I will kill a couple cows and will post the results.

Off topic some but, maybe you're local enough to have known some good friends from the late 60's mid '75.
Cliff and his wife Ramona that had the roadside bar at Grenville. I used to haul pipe to Odessa for about 5 yrs and some of us would stop in there to visit at times. I was thru there in '04 and saw the place had caved in, tree growing out thru the roof. I figure Cliff died as he was hitting the juice quite a bit, but, what has happened to the lovely lady? She was several years younger than Cliff.
Would either or both of you know? Last I saw them was in mid '75. I gave up trucking that Dec and had never been back til April '04, nor since.
Another place that's in the same shape now that used to be one hell of an active party house eatery: Watonga OK. Broke my heart to see these two places gone to hell.
