MARK H. YOUNGHOW ABOUT A COUES DEER HUNT IN AZ for '12?
Matt Woodard/Borderland Adventures has several slots open in '12 on his rifle coues deer hunts. Below are a couple of bucks from the '09 and '10 sesons. I have not rec'd Matts pix from the '11 season as yet.
116 B&C '09
105 B&C '09
97 B&C '10
113 B&C '10
These hunts are conducted from Matt's camp on his private land near Patagonia, AZ. The actual hunting is done on public land in Area 34A, 35B and 36B.
The camp itself is 45 minute from the Tucson Airport where you will be met by your guide. The camp is a tented affair with spacious wall tents, nice cots, on demand hot showers and nice food. Six hunters max in camp.
Hunting can be a physically demanding spot and stalk with long shots if you want to climb but can be quite easy as you can also set up over waterholes. Success is basically the same regardless of method of hunting.
Success rates:
16 for 16 2010, Avg. 91 B&C
13 for 14 2009, Avg. 90 B&C
06 for 08 2008, Avg. 100 B&C
Hunt dates 3rd week Oct '12, 1st week Nov.'11, last week '12. 5 full hunting days.
Pricing:
1x1 5 days $4,250 or 2x1 $3,400 to include 5 full days hunting, all food/lodging, lic/tag, tax, airport pick up plus drop off and assitance with the draw.
Historically everyone has been able to get a tag between the regular draw, leftover draw or OTC following the draw.
