zebrazapperSorry, dumb question. I’ve taken Chamois in NZ. How do these compare and are they a different subspecies?

CaracalHello,
not a dumb question at all.
The chamois in NZ are considered a different subspecies by SCI. BUT the stock for this population came from Austria, so it is Alpine chamois.
The Chamois in north Macedonia are Balkan Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra balcanica).
By many the balkan chamois is considered a subspecies of the Alpine.
The main differences are:
It is slightly larger in bodysize than the Alpine Chamois. It has longer horns, and it is often lighter in colour.
Best Regards,
Dennis

CaracalAt this point I have three spots available still.
We can combine those with a variety of other chamois hunts in Europe if you are interested.
