Here is a hunt that is off the beaten track! Forest hunts in the Republic of Congo.




Forest buff - is'nt this a cool brute!


The concession is in the North Eastern area of the French Congo bordering Cameroon and CAR. Hunters will fly to Brazaville and then take a commerical airline flight to Ouesso (about $300 rtn) where they will be met and driven to camp. Flts from Brazaville to Ouesso are only on Thursdays. Another option is a 13 hr drive to Ouesso.

The country is safe and the locals are friendly. The operator has been hunting this area for the last 3 seasons and the hunt is proceeding on a year by year basis. Trophy exports have been no problem and neither is getting your hunting rifle in to the country.

The area was logged commerically in the past so there is a very good network of logging roads in place which makes the hunting very good.

The 4 main species are Bongo, Dwarf forest buff, Sitatunga and Yellow backed duiker. You can do a combo hunt or forcus on one of the main species.

Prices on a 1x1 basis are as follows:

Bongo 16 days $28,000
Dwarf buff 10 days $17,500
Sitatunga 10 days $17,500
Yellow backed duiker 10 days $17,500

Observers 500/day

Trophy fees:

Bongo $5,500
Sitatunga $ 3,000
Forest buff $ 3,500
Yellow backed duiker $ 2,250
Black fronted duiker $ 600
Peters duiker $600
Blue duiker $600
Bay Duiker $600
Red river hog $1200
Giant forest hog - no permits this year.

The success rate on all the species are very high, especially when doing a focused specie hunts. You can take any of the lesser duikers on any of the hunts for T/fee. If quota is available you can take another main species for an upgrade cost + t/fee.

Its with andre and tielman if im correctly they friends of mine and really great guys and yes im looking to hunt with them this year so guys book ive seen photos of the animals they great.

Folks just to give you an update the first Bongo hunter shot his Bongo on day 2 of the hunt.

They still have a couple of openings left for this year and have reduced the price to $25,000 for a Bongo hunt.

All other costs as mentioned above still apply.

Postpone your buffalo hunt and hunt a Bongo while you still can.
