hunteratheartGuys, this is a smoking deal and Phil is a great PH. I promise you won't be disappointed as Phil is good at what he does and loves getting in close.
Would love to get in on this, but Africa in the next 2 years just isn't going to happen.

BEGNOI hunted that camp with Clinton Rogers (Dudley's son), very rustic, but I loved it. Lots of Eles there on the Ume river. I shot my first Ele out of that camp, a non-trophy bull, 32 x 27.5 in the Jesse, very exciting.
We had Eles in camp at night.

BwannaI was in this camp in 2006 and can attest, it is stunning and a quintessential African experience.

Phillip SmytheHey Butch - I didn't know you had been there! Started hunting the area beginnning of last year and really enjoy it - Camp is right in amongst the game - we use Solar, so ele/ buff still walk through the camp!
Love it!

BEGNOYep, 2009. Bushbucks and impala crossing in sight of camp. One thought, Clinton had a Honda 4 wheeler and we rode it up river to areas that are basically roadless. Fun stuff

BillsBillsBillsPhillip,
If I wasn't already hunting with the Duckworths this summer I'd be in, maybe next year?
Guys, I was on an AR group hunt in Zambia last fall and had a great time. Kinda nice to have a group to share camp with. And for those of us on limited budgets a real great price. I would recommend it.

Full RoarMy available dates are from August 5th - back
Seems kinda hard to get a few guys on the same schedule together
14 March 2013, 04:43
cal pappasPhillip:
Could the reason for the slow sale is it is so close to summer here in the US and many if not most of us have our plans made? To hunt 2-3 months out is short notice in itself but to plan 4-5-6 guys all with different schedules is a bit difficult I would imagine. I would love a hunt such as this but I'm already set for Zim in June and Australia in July. Perhaps a bit more time. I know in my situation a few more months of being able to plan and I could (would) have been "in."
Cheers.
Cal

Phillip SmytheHey Bill - you are going to enjoy hunting with the Duckworths - Sengwa Research is an awesome area!
Cal - Yup - 2/3 months notice is too short it seems!
Hopefully see you in Zim in June!

Sounds like a real fun hunt with game animals right in camp!
I wish I could do this!

tsibindi....The fellow in the green cap with the buffalo, looks like an acquaintance of some years back before he became a P/H. His name, Kurauvone Mapfumo, or as I knew him, Kura.
If it is Kura, as him if he received a photo taken in Johanna Block of him, and a dube he shot. I promised I'd mail it to him, and I did. I hope he received it.
If the fellow is not Kura, my compliments on the buffalo all the same.

LabmanIs the "bag" (quota) per hunter or a total for all 4 hunters? Could 4 hunters all go on the same charter flight and split the $4,000 charter fee?

Phillip SmytheTsibindi - YUP thats Kura! Sure thing, I will ask him if he recieved his picture.
Labman - The 'bag' is a total of what can be taken on the safari for ALL 4 hunters (option of adding on another buff can be arranged)
And yes all 4 hunters will go on the charter (navajo twin engine) so the cost is $1000 each to fly - usually driving is around $600... so flying if sharing is definitely the way to go.

chuckmaxmanPhil,
Is this an area we can look at for next year? How big are the leopards on average?
23 April 2013, 14:20
Phillip SmytheChuck,
Area will still be there next year! I still need to see what National Parks will be doing in terms of pricing etc, but will be hunting this area for a few years - I enjoy it, particularly for leopard, tuskless and buff.
Leopard here - are similar to the zambezi valley cats, long but slim - The last one we shot was 7 foot 2 - and weighted 140lbs...
Every now and again we shoot a nice cat - 160lbs but generally they are slimmer here.
Hope this helps.
