gsganzerScottish must be the Chuck Norris of ethnicity
I've watched my mother, who's been a type 1 diabetic, turn 86 years old a few weeks ago. She still has all her parts and is of sound mind. Virtually unheard of for a diabetic to still be trouble free after that many years as a type 1 diabetic.
She immigrated to the US from Scotland when she married my dad in the 50's.
She's always been as tough as a Scottish thistle. Never sick or down.
I'm beginning to think being a Scot is the Chuck Norris of ethnicity.

Norman ConquestThey are indeed a tough breed. My stepfather's dad came over on the boat alone from Scotland in the early 1900s. He was 13 years old. Ended up making his fortune in America. I always liked him, a crusty old guy who pulled no punches + told stories of the way things used to be.

Norman ConquestThe presence of the thistle in the national coat is due to the fact that when the Norsemen invaded their shores to loot, rape, slave, + all that good old viking performance was quashed quite a bit by barefoot vikings chasing shod Scots through the heather, as it were.

We Germans are tougher.
Weren't the Germans defeated by Britain? Just sayin'.
BTW: My Scottish mother (6YO at the time) was given the engine room canary by the townsfolk when they captured a German U-boat sailing up the Clyde River in WWII.
She said it was delicious.
