JohnCrightonAnyone planning or want to go to Namibia in May-June 2008?
I'm about to pull the trigger on a killer deal in Namibia (my first time to Africa). If anyone else was thinking of going around end of May, beginning of June and is looking for a fellow AR member to share the experience with, email or PM me and let's talk.

You poor man. You'll never be the same after your first trip to Africa because all you will be thinking about is when you will be going back.
I'm going to be in Namibia a couple of months earlier than you otherwise I'd buy you a Windhoek Lager at Joe's.

Brain1I'll be there the last week of May until second week of June. If we can, maybe have a zebra steak one evening.

Brian1 - that would be awesome! Maybe we can meet up at Joes in Windhoek. Where are you going to be, and will you be in Windhoek any of those days and have enough time to meet up? I'll probably be there the entire day and night of May 30, and then back between June 8th-June 13th.

Steve MalinverniI think that it is Joe's Beer House, you can take a look here:
Joe's Beer House but if you have time ask to go to Luigi's, you will have very good fish food at a very good price.
Maybe I'll be there also this year, but at the end of June.
Enjoy your travel.
bye

almostacowboyGoing to Africa "to get it out of my system" was one of my big mistakes in life. All I accomplished was driving it in to the bone. Now, after a trip to RSA, a trip to Botswana, a trip to Namibia, and a trip to Tanzania (since 2004), here I am on AR reading about everyone else's trips and trying to figure out how to save enough money to retire by the end of 2008 and how to get back to kill more buffalos in 2009.
Waaah! Poor ME!

cooperjdguys i registered on here a long time ago, but unfortunately did not take advantage of the wealth of information until recently. i started really reading a lot and love this site. i am trying to save up for a trip to africa, but i really have no idea what a trip would cost. i'm fairly young (26) but like some of your signatures say, you never know about tomorrow, so go today. anyway, if i were to go and try to get a few plains game animals, impala, kudu, gemsbock, does anyone have a round about figure of the cost. i know this question is way way too open ended, but lets say just the trip. and i'll figure in 2500 for airfare and 2k for taxidermy and shipping. i'm afraid this is gonna add up quick. i would like to try to go in 09 if possible, probably the earliest i can save up some cash to go.

Devildawg66cooperjd, a hunt in Namibia for the game you mention, plus another one or two ani,als will cost you about $6000. Add your Airfare and Taxidermy costs for a grand total of $10,000 +/-

I'm contemplating taking my son, who would be 14 then, or the whole family (3 more, 5 total) to Namibia sometime during their summer vacation. I'd like to hear more about your "killer" deal, who with, etc. if you don't mind. On this thread or by Pm would be fine. Thanks.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Brain1John,
I should be in Windhoek on the 29, and don't start hunting until the 31 or June 1. As we get closer the time we can make a plan to get together at Joes or a similar place.

Would love to! I arrive the morning of the 30th and start hunting on the 1st of June. I leave on the 13th - hunting stops on the 7th - so perhaps at some point we can link up. Any plans on touring around after your hunt? I'm looking for someone to maybe share a rental car and see Etosha, maybe Walvis Bay as well from June 8-13th.
