Has anyone used United to fly from the states to either Dar or Killy? I have about 1mm miles and would very much like to use them. I usually fly KLM/Delta, but don't have the mileage so usually ends up costing a fortune for bizz class.

Log in to your United MileagePlus account and do a star alliance award search. United partners with SAA so you would just pick your connecting flights from JNB to DAR after getting to JNB through either JFK or IAD. Long advance notice should help with getting business or first class seating. Should also be able to check bags all the way through to avoid SAPS nonsense in JNB.

I have flown 4 times in the 4 consecutive years, business class or first class, using mileage plus. It is almost impossible to fly by booking on their website. You have to call the reservation number on your card and actually get someone that speaks english to help you, but it is possible.

Hunt and Pago; It looks like you are talking about getting just to Jo-Burg. That, I know how to do. I think EB (and me) are looking to book all the way to Tanzania. (I dont think we can do it without two separate awards. One to Jo-Burg and another on to Arusha.
