A-Fib & Zim??
Not sure where to post this , so here goes.
I just got in from the E.R after being Cardioverted from A-Fib condition. Had this condition for some yrs & planning on surgery after my up-coming Zim trip this August.
Question is: Is there anywhere in Zim for me to get cardioversion in case this happens on my hunt.
I'm assuming there has to be something in Harare, or is this a Joberg only medical option.. Would MedJet ins. cover this??

Thank you

why not get the ablation done now( i assume that is the procedure you mentioned)?? you would have plenty of time to recuperate before August.

Make sure you PH carries jumper cables incase you need to be started again half way through the hunt.
Would also not conduct this hunt with anyone not qualified to keep you alive or at least give you a chance to get medevac should things go south.

I'm hoping you have informed your outfitter and PH of your condition and THEY have a medical emergency plan in place?

Global Rescue for sure. Check on pre-exsisting condition clause. You do not have a "travelling wife" like the Russians, do you?

You may want to talk to your cardiologist regarding a pill in the pocket strategy (i.e. have a high dose of an antiarrhythmic drug to take to on the spot to try to convert you back to normal sinus rhythm). Having the ablation and valve replacement surgery is probably a no go since it will require you to take an anticoagulant like warfarin afterwards. Med Evac plan is probably in order since it sounds like you probably suffer from heart failure symptoms with severe aortic insufficiency and AFib.
