Anyone have any experience in flying from US to South Africa using Iberia through Madrid? Any special considerations in taking firearms through Spain?

CBNHNTR: I hope someone with some firsthand experience answers you. I thought about the same thing when we were coming back from Spain in June and I was studying the map in the back of the Iberia magazine. I would like to try overnighting (or longer) in Madrid sometime. I asked Susan with Gracy Travel about it and she just said the usual paperwork hassle with the officials at the airport in Madrid, whatever that means. I did notice the office that I think handles rifle permits in baggage claim in one of the terminals in Madrid while we were there (non-hunting trip) and it looked like it had extremely limited hours of actually being open.
