Saw that.

I really feel sorry for those intolerant of foods!

What I don’t understand is how did we live before??

I know, people of my generation have asbestos lined stomachs!

Younger ones seem to be intolerant to one thing or another.

Had a guest staying at our house who all sorts of things she couldn’t tolerate!

Told her she probably wasn’t part of the human race!

She said she was glad she was NOT part of mine!

I am celiac and have flown Emirates.

I have to be super careful of what I eat, if there is any doubt, I simply avoid it. Frankly I dont know anyone else who’s celiac who doesn’t do the same. I dont blame the lady, but any question in what I’m given I either ask a question or avoid the item. This is a serious illness; it’s not being gluten free as a fad / trendy diet. Travel can be tough, and has to be thought out; there are portable test devices that are very accurate for gluten detection if one does a fair bit of traveling/ eating out.

On Emirates, I asked for and received gluten free meals, and they were damn good. They use a Dubai based bakery that was outstanding for gluten free baked goods; Lime Tree Cafe. Good enough I sent them and Emirates customer service emails on how good the meals and service were. Personally I’d travel Emirates and stay over in Dubai again very confidently being celiac.

And I’ll add that I hunted with Charlton McCallum in Dande and they went above and beyond to accommodate me and special instructions to camp staff on my diet. There is a very good gluten free store in Harare where they took the time to source a few items and they were as good as I can find in New York City. They were very aware of what was required in camp and I was thoroughly impressed. (hunting was a lot of fun too, two trips so far with them). They’re preferred accommodation in Harare; Amanzi; was also keenly aware in the restaurant and I would have no issue recommending them either.
