Self Drive Trip around Namibia
Just back from a three week trip in Namibia and to introduce my 15 year old to the delights of Africa. Save for an unpleasant hour with carhire compnay - see other post - it was brilliant.

If you want a really good experience - see some some fantastic sights and sounds and see real Africa would thoroughly recomend it. We had a 4x4 with roof tents and save for 5 nights, all the rest were under canvas.

There are lots of really good camping sites in Namibia, both government, private and community run. With many you are completely on your own save for a wood or solar powered shower and loo and a "Michael" to look after you. Save for Etosha, you can actually get out and walk and there are many many good hiking trails - some do need a bit of research and pre booking permits etc. and its perfectly possible to loose yourself for a few days and be off grid and not have a huge expense.

But for gods sake please don't tell too many about it.
