Size of aluminum gun cases
For those that use an aluminum gun case, what is the minimum space you leave at the edges of the gun for safety. That is will a 46 inch case, leave enough margin if it receives an impact for a rifle with a total length of 44 inches.

Thanks for any inputs.

I cut a profile foam insert for my aluminum case the same as I do for my Browning Travel Vault. That way the rifle is supported all around from shifting in ANY direction and I have never had a problem. My aliuminum case is a Cabelas .080 heavy 2 rifle case. The one with wheels and the corners clipped off. Nice welds, hinges, latches and locking rod arrangement. The foam sheet is inexpensive.
