B&B in Vic Falls
I'll be staying in Vic Falls for a few nights on my way to Chirisa and wondered if anyone has stayed in one of the local B&B's and can make a suggestion. Thanks

I have been to Vic Falls twice, and stayed at a place owned by Brooklands Safaris.

Contact them and see if they have a place for you.

It is nice and you will see some game there.

Another choice might be the Hotel at the Falls.

I have not stayed there but I have eaten and drank there, it is nice.

The Falls is worth seeing.

I don't know any B&Bs but do highly recommend the Victoria Falls Hotel.

Thanks all, I'll e-mail Brooklands to see what they can offer. The Victoria Falls in is very nice, but I was hoping for more of a smaller scale place. JudgeG who with and where are you going to be hunting?

I've seen the falls a couple times and will probably get there again. This trip though I m going to get to Botswana, Chobe and have a look.

Right now I am beside myself in that I am there in a very short period of time.

Rob, email Russell Caldecort at Ultimate Guest Lodge:

Ultimate Lodge [ultimate@mweb.co.zw]

This is a really nice place to stay; reasonably priced and nice guy. Do a search for it on the Africa board. It's not really a B&B, tho; you'll have to eat somewhere else and he'll help you out with that. Otherwise, it's a very nice place to stay. If you'd like some pictures of it, let me know and I'll send you some.

I also recommend the Falls Hotel.

Check around and you might be able to find a deal. We got one for 3 nights that included breakfast and laundry a couple years ago. We were able to split it up for two days prior and one day after the hunt.

2nd the Ultimate Guest Lodge and Russell Caldecort. When I was there a few years back you could actually have dinner there by making a reservation. I opted for the place with the great buffet and entertainment, can't remember the name. I know Russell made the plan and they picked me up and brought me back to his place. Had lunch at the Vic Falls Hotel, very nice, good to experience the "old World charm" but probably wouldn't stay there. JMHO.

Guess I'll be 3rd. Ultimate Guest Lodge(Russell Caldecott) is the place to stay for hunters and guest. Just a nice atmosphere and very accomodating. They will setup fishing trips, Zambezi River tours and they escort you personally shopping. I was there last August and would highly suggest it to all. All meals are provided, if desired and just relaxing. Russell knows how to get things done and with little notice. But, I would suggest you make reservations. I would say that it is basically a Bed & Breakfast on a bit larger scale. Very personal. Yes, the Vic Falls Hotel is quite the place, but too upscale for me along with the pricing. One night at the Vic Falls Hotel equals a 4 day stay at the Ultimate Guest Lodge.

With the endorsements that Ultimate Guest Lodge has, I'd be foolish to not check it out. Thanks guys, I really appreciate the great feedback! 51 more days!

One more note. I have the following email address (actually 3) for Russell Caldecott at Ultimate Guest Lodge. Give them a try. Oh yes, I too first learned of this place from this message board. Forgot to mention. They also have transportation to and from the airport, if needed.

I'll be hunting Deka (tuskless, leopard, cow buffalo) with Lou Hallamore for a bit, then off to South Africa to hunt PG with Infinito.

rob;
Use the gmail.com e-mail account provided by bearhunter. It is the most reliable way to get in touch with Russ.
He has just finished some rentovation to the lodge which is quite nice. Breakfest and dinner will be provided if you like. Some nights entetainment by local dancers will also be provided. He can also arrange a trip to the Boma, which is an interesting place to eat as it offers a variety of game meat and dishes. Enertainment also provided.
Russ can set you up with a day trip to Bots, which is nice. First half of the day you are cruising the Zambesi, have lunch then to Chobe. He can also set up a day of tiger fishing if you like.If you want to do some shopping or see the falls he will send a staff member to look after you. IMHO one of the top places to stay in Vic Falls. He will take good care of you.
He has been working on a web site which you can do a search for that will give you more info and a overview of his lodge.
