jetdrvrOrlando/Detroit/AMS/Kili July18th/19th...
That's gonna be a ballbuster, but there's Maasailand buffalo waiting at trip's end. Anybody going through DET or AMS on that date?

robncoloradoWho are you flying on? KLM?
That itinerary looks like some kind of punishment. Why not an Orlando-Paris-Kilima N'djaro?. Of course, I understand the appeal of Detroit too.

JohnDLThe trip there isn't bad but the return trip is. The anticipation of the hunt makes it OK. NW/KLM runs well. You'll land about 8pm in the dark. The plane disembarks on the tarmac and after customs you'll be met by someone from the safari firm to help get the guns through customs. About a half hour drive to your hotel in Arusha.
I've made this trip many times. I like the climate of Arusha and usually come a day earlier just to relax at the hotel.
Who are you hunting with? I'll be there again this fall. You will have a fantastic time.

I did it three years ago to Dar. Will be hunting with Samaras. Staying at the Mt. Meru the first night and then out to the crater for a couple of days to do the tourist thing for my buddy's wife and I'm going to sleep a lot.
True, the trip home will be a bitch, but I'll be riding the hunt high that normally takes about three or four months to wear off. Things get better going over after Amsterdam and I get on KLM's triple-7. Luckily, I'm riding a 74 over, but I'm stuck with an A 330 returning across the pond. That sucks.
All I'm hoping is that NWA's ramp rats don't steal my guns in DET. They didn't last time and my guns arrived with me in Dar, even though I took an extra day at the Movenpick to let anything lost catch up.

Gary WattisJetdrvr,
I'll be going from Denver to Dar through Det and Ams on the 19th and the 20th. I'm on Flt 68 leaving Det on the afternoon of the 19TH. If this is the same date I'll buy you a cup or a cocktail. I'd like to pick your brain as I'm headed to Masailand next year with my son.

I'm gonna miss you by a day. I'm leaving DET on 68 on the 18th, the day before. Will be arriving AMS Sunday morning the 19th. Too bad. I'm meeting up with my friends coming in from Mexico City in AMS and we'll be in Kili that night. What a difference a day makes...

You can PM me for details, if you wish and I'll post a report, assuming I don't embarrass myself, on return...
