Another option for wiring $$

LabmanAnother option for wiring $$
Something I should have checked into sooner. The last time I met with my financial advisor I asked him if I could do an international wire transfer from my account with Ameriprise Financial. Found out I could do it without any charges. Sure beats paying my bank $50 for the same service. Just wired off a deposit to Namibia for a hunt in May.
Check with your broker before paying bank fees.

Interesting, my bank stopped doing international wire transfers so last year's hunt payment was a pain to set up. I'll check with my broker.
Thanks,
Frank

LabmanA few hours after advising my broker to send the payment via email I received a call from the Ameriprise folks who handle wire transfers. They just wanted to verify that the transfer was legit since it was going to Africa. A nice touch and no fees.

In 2008 I was going to Namibia and was wiring the down payment to Karl Stumpfe in South Aafrica. When the teller asked me if I was going on vacation I said "No, the oil minister in South Africa said that if I wired him this money he'd deposit 6 million dollars into my account."
She called the manager and I spent the next 10 minutes explaining that it was a joke. I actually had to show the manager my hunt contract before she believed me.

Victor WatsonI recently had to make a USD to Austria. My bank was unhelpful as per usual. I signed up for PayPal and 3 minutes later the payment was done. PayPal is awesome

SliderMy bank Wells Fargo charges $30 dollars for a wire transfer. I just sent one a week ago. Two years ago I sent a wire to Africa and it was LOST? My Bank told me the Bank in Africa could simply keep the money and say they never received it. I was in SHOCK!!! Luckily a couple days later it should up and a new one was sent.

Vic,
What Labman means is that Paypal will not do business with any company that sells guns or gun accessories, it's in their Terms of Use. They freeze your account if you are caught by them selling or buying gun parts. They'll put a hold on all the money and cancel your account and it takes months to get your money back.

Kingsview SafarisThat is unreal for a company like PayPal to make such a decision. We used PayPal a few times but after hearing this, it's time to reconsider.
