The article notwithstanding, I saw a landmine in the ground adjacent to a rainy season run-off at Niassa in Northern Mozambique when I spent a month hunting there in October 2008. I expect that the landmine had been buried, but was uncovered by the rains during some recent wet season.

This location was well off the beaten path and it occured to me at the time that, if landmines were buried in such remote locations as this, the probability of any organization being able to locate and disarm them all was close to zero.

Sad, but true.

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.
