Will be in Miami for 4 days in early October . Any suggestions on worthwhile things to see , other than the Everglades and a road trip to the Keys? Dont do beaches or shopping so looking for easy stuff to do ;-)

If I had that much time, I'd be fishing out of Islamorada. Captain Ted Wilson, out of Bud & Mary's, is a damn good fisherman and nice guy to spend a day with on the water.

uh....spend a couple of hours walking South Beach.......you'll be glad you did......

Visit some of South Florida’s high end gun stores.

Excellent high end handguns and military/tactical stuff. Few if any hunting rifles.

I could go to the Keys, South Beach is good for a day or two, Key Biscane is nice. Good Cuban food.

Never been, but Hemingway’s place in Key West is on my bucket list.

Based on your bouncing girl, South Beach would be the way to spend your days. Even better a trip to Haulover beach.

I should add I will have the missus with me , and we lean towards non-beach sort of stuff. I am sure the scenery at Florida beaches is wonderful but I need to think of my 60 year old blood pressure ;-)
Hemingways house sounds interesting though

I would at least try and squeeze in a day trip to Islamorada or better yet Key West (or both and stop for lunch and go to Robbie's and then drive down) the drive itself is very interesting.
Have dinner at Joes Stone Crab..have a breakfast with Cuban coffee etc or an evening on South Beach

Mangos in SoBe is kind of interesting.

We've been to Key West several times (got married there) and every time we visit we go to the Hemingway House.

Our youngest lives there with her husband. We saw them in July. The place makes Texas feel like Arizona. Just a big, hot, humid city with some beaches and really, really bad drivers.

'Nice big cigar store in Little Havana though. Not the cheapest, but a great selection.

The Rusty Pelican was a decent meal.

Kill a couple of iguanas while you're there. They're taking over, and crapping on everything.

From Miami count on driving 3 hrs to Islamorada and 5 hrs to Key West. On weekends add more time. Traffic can be terrible.

Bingo.

It all depends on the the type of thing you like to do and how far you are willing to drive.

The bonefish and permit fishing is fairly good in biscayne bay a couple of miles south of Miami. Might want to give it a try. There is nothing like having a 4 pound missile on the other end of your line when fishing with light tackle. PM me if you need some guide recommendations.
