JGRaiderTravel to SA, May 2013
Looks like a buddy and myself, both first timers, are booking a hunt with Koedoeberg for May. I have a very narrow window for departure. I have to arrive in J'berg on 5/11/13. First thoughts are I'm willing to do the Delta nonstop from Atlanta. Everyone tells me the economy comfort upgrade is the only way to go, especially row 31 on the bulkhead. Problem is, all of row 31 is sold out. Question: Given 31 has no seats available, is economy comfort still worth it, and would you choose an aisle, window, or what? What other flight options should I be considering? I appreciate all the help.

Brian ClarkFor $159 each way it's well worth it. Congrats on your first trip, May is a great time to be there.

FjoldI always choose the window seat since I don't get a lot during the flight and it gives me something to lean against and I don't get hit by everything going up and down the aisles.

Best way to avoid getting disturbed all the time.

drjI flew the economy comfort last year-well worth it. If the bulkhead row is not available I would choose an aisle seat in the center, as I have been told (and experienced this on my trip) that the seat next to you is more likely to be empty on that row. Plus I like to get up and walk around a lot to prevent DVT. Just my $.02

pagosawingnutAlso, Unless the airlines have changed their policies, they didn't use to book the exit row seats. I have been able to be first at the ticket counter several times and ask if the exit row seats are available. If they are, they will move you to one of those seats if you are willing and able to open the exit in event of an emergency. No row of seats in front of you gives you a lot more leg room.

FbullLast July I flew economy comfort in the bulkhead aisle seat. Used my backpack for a footrest. Worked great as was worth the extra cost.

415sbairdI prefer the center aisle seat. Good headroom and only one person to step over you. Freedom to get up as many times as you please without being a pest to others on your row.
