longfeather1transit permits in Dubai ???
Hello All,
I am considering booking a flight on Emirates from the states to Johannesburg via Dubai.
According to the Emirates website, when transiting Dubai with firearms/ammo I need a permit from the "Dubai Airport Police Dept." and the "Dept. of Civil Aviation". The website said to contact these authorities directly before traveling. This is in addition to the permit required by Emirates in advance.
Do any of you have any information/contact numbers/web-links, etc. on contacting these departments?
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Jack

#1 of 13If you haven’t already made your travel plans try Jennifer at Travelexpress.com. I went through Dubai last year and she took care of me very well. Handled all the permits so I had nothing to worry about.

You do need the Emirates permit but you dont need to actually contact Police or Emirates CAA.
From Emirates website you can download the firearms transit form which you fill out and email to Emirates. You should get a reply in 2 - 3 days. They enter the info into their system against your flight details. Emirates themselves should notify the local Police and CAA but ensure you ask your travel agent to confirm to you that has been done. I've been through this once and it was pretty straightforward.

MARK H. YOUNGJack,
Use a gun savvy travel agent like Gracy Travel or Travel With Guns and they'll handle the permit for you and arrange meet/greet in JNB.
