If you have stayed there how does it compare to the other places near the airport in joberg.

I'll be staying at the City Lodge on June 11, we usually stay other places but I've been told that road construction has the morning traffic really messed up and our in country flight leaves pretty early. I'll post something from there if it isn't too late to do you any good.

I stayed at City Lodge last August. As this was my first time in RSA, I can't give you a comparison. However, food was good, rooms were nice and it is really convenient. It was recommended to me by Shawn at Gracy.

To my understanding, there is a City Lodge Branded Hotel that is NOT attached to the airport, BUT the hotel Gracy books customers into is IN the airport.

I stayed there May 2 on my way to Zambia. Gracy booked me there. It's right out the airport door, into the parking garage, up a long ramp and then take the elevator. Pretty good signage. I paid a porter $5 to haul my bags there.

The interior is a modern hotel, the rooms are nice and have safes, it's just like staying at a Marriott. The restaurant was just ok, they only do a sort of lunch memu for dinner, but the beer is cold. Breakfast was fine. The hotel porter will get you and your bags to your departure gate for another $5.

It doesn't have any of the ambience of the Afton, but it's quick, easy, fine lodging, and if you just want to eat, shower, sleep and get back on the plane I'd reccomend it. No complaints, no issues.

The hotel just outside the doors of the hotel is a City Lodge hotel. It is the OR Tambo airport Hotel. It is comfy and has all the right services.

The next closest City Lodge to the hotel is about a 5 min drive and is City Lodge Barbara Road.

Either hotel is convenient if you are overnighting and your flight is leaving early the next morning

There are many City and Road Lodges in S.A that belongs to the same group. All has the same standard most of them the same decor and the one by OR Thambo has excellent facilities.

If we're talking about the hotel that's about a 2 minute walk from the airport terminals and used to be called the Intercontinental, there's a lot to be said for it.

Rooms & service are good, food is pretty good and you can always cross back into the airport for anything from a Mc D to an Ocean Basket and pretty much everything in between.

Room prices are a bit high but it can't be beaten for convenience. tu2
