Terry BlauwkampDSC Travel
I will post this under "Travel" even though it is for DSC next year.
Yesterday I got a "fare alert" from Travelocity
with a great deal to Dallas.
I called them and booked 2 tickets, but when I got the e-mail confirmation, I noticed that my name was mis-spelled by one letter..
They booked it as Blauwaamp not Blauwkamp
So I called them back to fix it.
Nope sorry, we can't do that.
But... we can cancel it and start over since it is within 24 hours of booking. Had it been found after that, it would have been "tough sh..." Too bad so sad.
I said "Fine cancel it and then rebook me new tickets at the same price".
Nope sorry, those are gone, new price is $188 more.
And they don't care. Either I want them or not... yes or no?
I said "No thanks".. and I barely got a "goodbye" out of them as they hung up.
Long story - short... I will never book with any site again other than the actual Airline site where I can see my reservation on line and be sure it is correct.

dogcatTerry,
That has been my experience as well. I only book direct nowadays.

impala#03Maybe I've been lucky, but I have had really good service with Orbitz on several trips in the US.

MARK H. YOUNGI purchased my convention travel today for Dallas and Reno. United flies out of Yellowstone Regional here in Cody and we found the best fares by far directly with United. Cody-Dallas-Cody with good connections $343. Cody-Reno-Cody $449. Today the website offers were quite a bit more expensive or the connections were hideous.

Jason JohnsonTerry-
FWIW, I just today bought plane tickets for DSC today. Got roundtrip Grand Rapids to Dallas for $251 including all taxes and fees per person. I used expedia but I checked delta.com and saw they had same ticket for same price.

martinbnsWE just flew Edmonton to Phoenix and are returning on the 30th and to book directly through the airline would have been $800 more than Expedia.
I book that way all the time, I almost always find the airlines own websites more expensive.
