gunslinger55Using Am EX card in Africa?
Was hoping to use my Delta card to pay for most everything and to my surprise no one took it. Is it worthless there? This includes the Afton house and paying for hunt
Few places take AmEx in Africa. Everyone takes Mastercard and Visa. Just make sure you do not have any foreign transaction fees on your card as they can quickly add up. Also, the best exchange rates are obtained through credit card transactions and not converting dollars into foreign currency.

WesheltonjHad no problems using AMEX in RSA in the areas that I was at - Cape Town and JNB. I do not remember if I used VISA or AMEX in Kruger.
Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia, I used VISA. Except Vic Fall NP kept telling me my card was declined and would have to pay in Dollars, no matter which card I gave them.
A lot of places pull the "Sorry my card machine isn't working, so you pay with cash" routine. Simply ask them to plug the phone line back in and try again if they want to get paid.

sheephunterabMastercard and Visa work virtually everywhere. Amex is hit and miss.

D. NelsonAmex wasn't (connected) in Lusaka, but VISA was.
I will probably end the Amex account.
