It is hard to understand.
I always thought ground control will send you to a parking space that is adequate for your plane.
So other planes can pass on the line without having to worry about hitting you.

#1 of 13Same thing happened in Anchorage about 19 yrs ago. Russian plane was parked and a new Asiana 747 on its first flight clipped the tail off the Russian. They ended up demolishing the plane with heavy equipment. Asiana had its wing tip replaced.
