Karamojo BillFlights from Sates to J'burg
What happened to flights & fare?
The wife was looking to book our flights this August from the N/W USA to J'Burg.
Delta does not seem to have flights direct there anymore. KLM has them through Amsterdam but that's 23 hours in the air.
Also the price doubled per person.
Advice ASAP PLEASE!

David CulpepperDelta still has direct flights from Atlanta to Jo-Berg. Prices in August are about $2,200 coach. Prices drop to about $1,600 in mid September. Flight #200 leave Atlanta at 7:25pm and coming back Flight #201 leaves Jo-Berg at 8:20pm.

dinsdaleBest I've done is JFK to JOH about $1200 on SAA mid August.
That flight is 18 hours and makes a brief refueling stop in Senegal(but you don't get off the plane).

Karamojo BillI wonder why they are not showing up? Booked maybe?

elk88101Just some input I use the following site:
http://www.vayama.comThey were $200 cheaper than 3 different contract booking agents. Contract booking agents are to be the cheapest. I was going to leave from JFK but just tried Dallas and it was only $20. more From DFW thru Dulles DC
They also have muli city bookings its cool.

Tracker49I used Safari Line for booking our flights last September. NW/Delta from Grand Rapids Michigan to Atl direct to J'Burg, then SAA to East London. Total cost just under $1,500 each round trip. Using a travel agent helps if you have delays (I found this out the hard way, weather delays here in the states made us miss the J'burg flight, but Safari Line got us hooked up within about an hour. Delta took care of their part OK but could not help on the connecting flight on SAA on to East London) If you are booked all the way through on one airline (only going to J'Burg) this would not be an issue but changing in midstream like that, we could not have done it ourselves at that time of night.

Adrian ParhamThe lastI heard delta was flying daily non stop to jnb and stopping in dakar on the return flight.
Saa mostly uses scarebuses,(don't use the elevators) to jnb and delta uses the Boeing 777, a much nicer and more comfortable ship. JMO

Is this something recent? As of September and November of last year the flight was non-stop both ways.

David CulpepperIn October of last year Delta's flights were nonstop both ways. According to the flight schedules on their website they are still nonstop both ways.

Still the case. I'm booked for late April and both are non-stop
