I know this may sound ridiculous, but do any of y'all worry about catching yellow fever, malaria, or zika, on SAA's one hour refueling layover in Accra or Dakar?
It seems like an infected mosquito could get on the plane, but the likelihood of that happening would be extremely low.

No can't say as that has concerned me. But I am petrified of getting hit by lightening or a meteor every time I go outdoors.

ELeetonI recently went through Accra on SAA a couple of times. On each trip, inbound and outbound, they fumigated the plane with a "WHO approved", "completely safe", aerosol pesticide.
The jet bridge was connected and the air was on. I guess a bug could find its way in and it could possibly find you. If this causes concern, I would think that the hazards associated with hunting in Africa would be much greater.
I wouldn't and don't worry about it.

MJines. . . I would be more worried about picking up a plastique package from the ground crew servicing the plane.

LabmanI assume you're talking about the flight from Dulles in Va. I've taken that flight in the past but not anymore. I fly out of JFK in New York. No stop for refueling and the flight gets into Joberg earlier in the day so you can make connections to destinations in other countries without an overnight in Joberg. Eliminates dealing with the SAP crooks.

BuffHunter63I would worry more about being seated next to someone who has Ebola or leprosy or some other weird tropical disease.
Head lice is also making a comeback, I've heard.
Embrace it. Adventure without danger is not real adventure.
