hydehunterammo to S.A.
I have read when you take your ammo to So Africa that you will need a locking hard case for it (makes since) also I have read your ammo has to be in factory boxes and you not just put it in those 50 round plastic boxes as I reload all my ammo and do not have any factory card board boxes. thanks for any info Jim

Baker458I lock mine in a plastic "dry box" with a padlock.
Plastic 50, or 20, round boxes are fine. They just have to be designed to hold ammo.

Bwana338I use a pistol/revolver case that is lockable to place my ammo in. This goes in my checked bag. Making sure you have an address tag on the case. Sometimes on South African airline they have made me take my ammo case out of my checked bag weigh it and it goes separate at no additional charge. So tag it just in case.
The 50 round reloader case works, just make a label and tape it to the top as to what you have in the box. all unused slots will. need to have a piece of paper or a filler of some kind that way they know that nothing was in that slot. On the top all you need is 30.06 or 300 Win Mag what matches the head stamp on the cases you are taking. easy on you.

ArnietOr if you are paranoid like me, do a WTB add in the classified section. Just buy a few boxes, from a factory fodder shooter.

JTEXI always just put my ammo in my rifle case on the way over. All airlines I've flown allow this from the US......
For domestic flights inside.... I've got a pelican, or just put ammo in checked luggage.
I always use hand loads so no factory boxes.....
