TJAir fare price from USA to Africa.
Damn!
I was thinking of going to Namibia next year for a hunt until I checked airfare prices.
I checked several airlines, here is what I found.....
Delta. Cheapest from Anchorage to Windhoek, $2729USD
SAA. from Atlanta to Joburg then Windhoek...$3626USD.
I think I'll pass.
I didn't check any of the agents recommended here. I just did a net search. Maybe I'll call them tomorrow.
Is this info in err? Did I screw it up?
Thanks.

namibiahunterOf course, you know that airfare will fluctuate, depending on what time of year you choose to travel.
You might want to investigate going to Seattle or Portland and using that as your point of origin. I think I've paid as little as $1500 roundtrip from Portland to Windhoek. My roundtrips to Anchorage from Portland or Seattle have cost me between $385 and $440 when I flew in August, September, and October.
Call some of the travel arrangers, especially the ones who posts on this forum. Also check out Orbitz, Travelocity, and other on-line ticketers. Another possibility is Cabelas Travel.
I think you can do it for around $2000 to $2400, depending on when you want to go.

If you can get a gun from your PH try Condor Air from Anchorage to Frankfurt (About $1100) last time I checked and it's only 11 hours over the top, then Air Namibia Frankfurt to Windhoek.

I forgot to mention that Condor Air has NO baggage agreements with anyone and they fly every other day out of Anchorage, which just happens to be the opposite days the Air Namibia flys out of Frankfurt leaving you a 36 hour layover in Frankfurt, hence the need to borrow a gun.

TJThanks -20.
I didn't think Condor flew in May. They do!
Condor fare Anc to Fra $786USD.
Namibia Air Fra to Wdn $1209USD. Total....$1995. More like it.
Knowing how efficient the Germans are, I'll bet I can take my gun along. Might have to pay someone to store it, but I'll bet it can be done. And I'll bet someone on this site knows how to do it!
Thanks again Buddy..I owe you a beer, or other adult beverage!

I was planning on using that route in July, so if you can find a way to take your gun please let me know.

StonecreekDoes Condor fly to London? If so, Air Namibia flys out of London on the opposite days that it flies out of Frankfurt, perhaps making for a much shorter layover.

Talk to Steve at Alaskan Gun & Ammo in Fairbanks. He's done the Condor to Frankfurt to southern Africa trip a time or two with guns.

BEGNOJuly Safari in Namibia. I just booked r/t from Lafayette, LA to Atlanta to JNB on Delta. Overnight in JNB at Afton Guest House. JNB to Windhoek on SAA. Depart July 3 and return July 20, for $2,397.74.
I have been watching this fare for months and have seen it in the 2,800-2,900 range, so I jumped on it.

JohnCrightonI just booked from Orlando to Frankfurt, then Frankfurt direct to Namiba. Total roundtrip with fees and taxes was $2200 - done through Kathi Klimes.
Very happy with the rates and the fact that there will only be 4 flights total, and my bags can be checked all the way through.

Dr.CIt's a little late for this summer, but I would suggest that you get a credit card that gives you frequent flyer miles.
I've been twice and am headed for a third time this Sept. All trips were paid for my wife and myself with frequent flyer miles.
It's nice with ff miles as you can fly business or first class with no out of pocket expense.

coniferIt is costing me 1500 from Orlando to Joberg (return) next May....this: the least costly was on SAA, unfortunately.
