MD375I have used them 3 times in the last 4 years. Twice in business and once in economy. It wasn’t bad at all. Flew with guns twice. Never had any issues. Avoid economy. Luckily business tickets are under 1000$ here so it is well worth it.
The airline staff usually wait for you upon disembarking in Addis with signboard with your name on it. They then take you to clear the gun in what I assume is the luggage processing facility. It is a bit unnerving due to the location. The airline staff were helpful and assisted with the language translation and telling me what documents to produce. The process did not take long for me and it wasn’t as bad as Cameroon for example.

Bama15Used them a couple of times with guns and will use them again . Very friendly and took me to the gun check and walked me back to the gate. Have no complaints.

SIKA98KI’ve flown with them a few times, both up front and cattle class. Service is good. As has been previously noted checking firearms in Addis Ababa is minor grief but if you have all your ducks in a row regarding paperwork you are golden.

Tommy45I'm trying to reply to Big Bear regarding his questions about business class on Ethiopian airlines. I just flew them in September. They were okay the food was good the service was good the planes aren't nearly as nice as say United or lufthansa. The airport at at Ottis Ababa is pretty cool. They have many shops with great leather goods there. I saw some very nice leather goods while I was there. I would not hesitate to travel through there.

Tommy45I'm trying to respond to Big B bear but I'm having a little bit of trouble .
I just flew through Adis Abab on business class on Ethiopian Airlines last september. It's nice the service is good, the planes aren't as fancy as say United or american. The airport at Adis Ababa is very interesting. I found that it had several shops with some very nice leather goods, everything from wallets, to very nice purses and travel bags. I would not hesitate to fly Ethiopian Airlines or travel through others Ababa

BigBBearTommy45, just read your post and thanks for the info. I was concerned not only about the guns but going through an international airport with only 1 hour 15 minutes seems tight.

Bud MeadowsI flew Ethiopian Airlines in 2019. The flight was delayed due to slow and haphazard boarding and I missed my connecting flight to WDH. EA did not have a flight to WDH the next day so they put me up in a flea bag hotel in Addis and I had to fly to Joberg then to WDH. I lost a day and a half of hunting and the customer service in Addis was unhelpful and surly. The only positive was the attractive stewardess. If you have a tight connection I’d be worried.

BigBBearJust checking again to see if there are any more updates on Ethiopian Airlines. I am actually booked this year for 14 day elephant and buffalo and wanted to avoid JBurg if at all possible. Any thoughts.?

I’m travelling with them in a week. If the experience differs greatly from previous trips I’ll keep you posted.

the PomI've got nothing against Ethiopian airways business class, it's fine but I would pay quite a bit more to avoid a 1 hour 15 minutes flight change with guns at Addis. Just not worth the risk considering what the rest of your hunt costs.
