Rules for firearms and ammunition on South African Airways operated flights*
Firearms and ammunition are transported free of charge provided that they are still in your additional 20 kg free baggage allowance for sporting equipment.
The transportation of firearms and ammunition is subject to correct transportation / safety procedures.

You forgot to include:
"Note:
It is mandatory to prereserve space for the transport of your firearms and ammunition via our reservations * should your itinerary include flights with other airlines, please contact the first transporting carrier in your itinerary for their excess baggage regulations"
This seems to be a significant change compared to my last 6 trips on SAA to South Africa!
Another way for SAA to mess with visiting hunters?
